What was your path to becoming a therapist?
I thought that I chose this profession; as it turns out, this profession chose me. I was meant to be a social worker. As a child, I remember thinking that there was a reason why people behaved a certain way and I wanted to know the root cause of that particular behavior. I have consistently met people where they are. I have worked with a diverse population of varying socioeconomic backgrounds and ages (from six years old to 90 years old). My treatment approach is eclectic.
What should someone know about working with you?
The intake process involves an in-depth biopsychosocial assessment. I assign journaling, letter writing, writing positive attributes about yourself, and homework as needed. I like to work with anyone who is willing and ready for a better quality of life.
What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
I like to participate in continuing education courses that will enhance and hone my skills as a therapist as well as empower my clients. I'm interested in learning various treatments, interventions, and modalities. It is essential to collaborate with other providers for the betterment of my clients.
