Profile
“The client is the expert while I am just there to walk alongside them and provide feedback that maybe the client is unable to see themselves.”
What was your path to becoming a therapist?
Since the fifth grade, becoming a mental health provider was my career path of choice. I have always enjoyed the ability to work with individuals in some of the most challenging times of their lives and help them get to a better place. Growing up, I felt that there were many periods of my life in which I could have benefited from the support of a therapist. My background encompasses working with children in multiple capacities, from within the school setting, foster care, and outpatient therapy to lead analyst in applied behavior analysis for children with behavior difficulties. My experience has provided me with the professional skills necessary to work with children of all ages and provide support and training to their parents. Throughout my career, I have found that working collaboratively is truly the best approach to achieving personal growth and reaching therapeutic goals.
What should someone know about working with you?
I enjoy getting to know my client and find therapy to be a journey. The client is the expert while I am just there to walk alongside them and provide feedback that maybe the client is unable to see themselves. I use a collaborative approach and evidence-based therapies to work with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, family and marital issues, behavioral problems, and adjustment issues.
What are you most excited about within the evolving mental health landscape?
I am very excited about the opportunities that telehealth can offer clinicians and clients. Telehealth removes the barriers placed on us by our busy schedules. Oftentimes, clients are less likely to seek services because they do not have the time. As a result of this new platform, clients are now able to engage in services during their lunch breaks, while at home, or simply whenever they have a free hour. I have found that clients are more likely to open up quickly since the initial uncomfortable feeling of being in a new place across from a new person seems to fade more rapidly when the client is in the comfort of their own home.
